Tibor Simai

" Only those who dare to lose, win!"

Date of Birth: 23.02.1972

Hometown: Munich/Germany

Who are your sponsors? Tomac Co-sponsors: Arndt alarm systems, Trainperformance software, Giro, Spy, Sunshine. Camelbak, Hayes, Salsa, Syncros, SDG, Pedros, Speed Stuff, K2 Footwear, Schwalbe, Clifbar, Polar, ODI, Sonic Plates, DMR, Sharp

Do you have a girlfriend? Yo, her name is Nicola, and she‘s dope.

When did you start to race BMX? Hm, I think when the movie E.T. came out, in the beginning of the 80‘s.

What did you do before? Pretty good question, I don‘t know. Hanging out with my friends.

What was your biggest succees so far? It was in 95‘ when I started my comeback in BMX after doing some Bodybuilding Championships. I won the National Series. Then in 96‘ I finished 6th  Place at the Winternationals in Arizona. In 97‘ I won both, the German Championship and the National Series. After long time injured in 98‘ and 99‘ 1 won the last run ofthe German MTB Dual Slalom Championship Series. 2000 was one of my best Season. I won the BMX German Championship, and a couple of important MTB Biker X races.

Did you ever think about going to the USA an become a BMX AA Pro like some of the europeans? It was in 95‘ when I was with Gerrit Does and a couple of european riders in the US. At least I stayed three months, and left for the german National Series and my german sponsors.

How do you train for the races? Puuh, hard. 1 do a lot, like going to the gym, doing sprints, going to my local trails to get some skills, doing endurance on the roadbike and going to some local tracks for having gatepractice.

Who do you train with? With all the locals, especially my friend Tarek Rasouli.

What are you doing when you are not riding your bike? Get some air with my 250 CR. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeah. MX is rockin‘.

What will you do in the winter? I will race the Snowscoot Season. Iwas 4th  at Eurosport Wintergames this year.

Descibe a normal day in your life?! Waking up and thinking about what to do, every day my training depends on the weather. That sucks in Germany.

What should be changed in Germany? The german organisation BDR. Those people are only interrested in roadcycle sport. All the funsports like BMX, MTB Biker X, Dual Slalom are just a small part in this Organisation. To bad.

What are your goals for 2001? Winning the Eurpean Championship in Snowscoot, Do well at some BMX races, and winning the german Championship in MTB Dual Slalom.

Last words: I‘d like to thank all those people who helped me beeing there where I am. For all those who read this: Only those who dare to lose, win.
